Teeming Algae Series:

Teeming Algae is our full of life macro algae.  Our system is abundant in various pods and other micro/macro fauna.  Macro Algae is a great nutrient exporter serving as a natural filter to reduce nitrates and phosphates.  In addition it also provides a habitat for copepods and amphipods to boost their population.

Packaging:

All of our algae orders ship in 9 oz jars and are always pressure sealed. If the quantity is 1 cup or more you will receive a jar full of chaeto for every cup bought.  If the quantity is 2 – 1/2 cup orders you will receive 1 full jar.  If you wish to have your algae packaged separately ie: 2 jars each containing 1/2 cup of algae each, please contact us immediately upon placing your order as sometimes our orders will be shipped in as little as 10 minutes.

How its Grown:

Our chaeto grows in a fish-less, only macro algae system.  As a bonus, our tanks are seeded with a variety of copepods and amphipods that flourish in our system.  Pods are some of the most resilient organisms of the ocean, and will most likely travel through our algae into your system.  Don’t be alarmed if you don’t notice any pods, pods are very hard to see with the naked eye.

What is Ulva lactuca?:

Commonly known as Sea Lettuce, is a green edible algae found in marine waters throughout the world. It is a free-floating, perennial macroalgae that forms large, flat, fan-shaped blades and typically grows in shallow, sheltered areas. This algae is high in protein, vitamins, and minerals making it a popular snack for tangs.
